日本語訳詞は他にも近藤玲二、津川主一などが作詞（訳詞）していますが、二人については著作権保護期間中のために掲載を控えます。
歌いだしはそれぞれ以下のようになっています。

「ロンドンデリーの歌」は、アイルランド民謡で、北アイルランドでは事実上の国歌としての扱いを受けているそうです。

そのメロディーの美しさから、これまでに多くの歌詞がつけられており、中でも「Danny Boy（ダニーボーイ）」は世界的に知られ、多くのミュージシャンによって歌われています。

この「Danny Boy」は、Londonderry Air（ロンドンデリーの歌）にイングランドの弁護士だったフレデリック・ウェザリーが1913年に歌詞を付けたものです。
（もとは別の曲のために作った歌詞だったが、この曲に合うように修正して1913年に発表しました）
