聖夜（きよしこの夜）は、オーストリアにある聖ニコラ教会の神父だった「ヨゼフ・モール」の作詞で、教会専属のオルガン奏者だったフランツ・クサーヴァー・グルーバーにより作曲され、1818年12月2４日にオーストリアのオーベルンドルフの聖ニコラウス教会で初演された聖歌です。
日本でもクリスマスになると必ず聞かれる歌ですね。
