金髪のジェニー（Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair）はアメリカの作曲家、スティーブン・フォスターが1854年に作詞・作曲しています。
この歌の「ジェニー」は彼の妻であるジェーンと推察されます。ジェーンは1850年にフォスターと結婚し翌年には娘が生まれています、しかしフォスター家の生活は大変に苦しく1860年に破綻をきたし、彼が４年後に亡くなるまで妻子との別居状態が続きました。37歳と6ヶ月余りの生涯で「ケンタッキーの我が家」、「主人は冷たい土の中に」、「故郷の人々」「オールド・ブラック・ジョー」「夢見る人」など多数の名曲を残しているが、その晩年は経済的・家庭的にも恵まれなかったようです。その最後は滞在先のホテルの部屋で不慮の事故死を遂げています。
